$75,000 donated to winners and their charities of choice
Montreal (Quebec), June 10, 2008 — Yellow Pages Group (YPG) announced today the winners of its Platinum and Gold prizes under the banner of its Make It Real: Better Businesses for Better Communities program. Make It Real is a nationwide initiative dedicated to recognizing Canadian small businesses for their outstanding contributions to improving the communities in which they operate.
“Whether it’s through volunteering time, donating human or financial resources, coordinating a fundraising effort, or perhaps protecting or improving the environment, many businesses today are going out of their way to give back to their communities,” explains Annie Marsolais, Director of Corporate Communications for Yellow Pages Group. “As a partner to Canadian businesses for the past 100 years, YPG is delighted to once again be recognizing and rewarding the efforts of these 20 companies.”
Offered in 10 cities from coast to coast, the Make It Real program is open to small businesses of 50 or fewer employees. To be eligible to participate, businesses can nominate themselves or be proposed by another party for having demonstrated actions that resulted in the betterment of their respective communities. Participants are judged by local panels in each city, and winning companies in the Platinum category are awarded a cash prize of $5,000, with $1,000 being donated to a charity of their choice. For their part, Gold winners receive $2,500, of which $500 is donated to a beneficiary organization.
