Ten Small Canadian Businesses Rewarded for their Community Involvement

Montreal (Quebec), May 13, 2009 — Yellow Pages Group is recognizing ten small businesses from across Canada as the 2009 winners of its Make It Real program. This year’s program will donate $65,000 to the winners and their selected charities of choice as part of the nationwide initiative dedicated to recognizing Canadian small businesses for their outstanding contributions to improving their local communities.

“Given the current economy, it becomes important more than ever to encourage Canadian small businesses to find the time, energy, money and human resources to support their local communities,” says Annie Marsolais, Director of Corporate Communications for Yellow Pages Group. “Whether it’s coordinating a fundraising event or initiating a program to protect the environment, it’s inspiring to see so many small businesses continuing to give back to their communities. Yellow Pages Group is proud to be recognizing and rewarding these efforts again this year.”

The Make It Real program is open to small businesses of 50 or fewer employees in 10 communities from coast to coast. Nominees are judged by local panels in each region, and winning companies are awarded a cash prize of $6,500, of which $1,500 is being donated to a charity of their choice.
